The looming energy stalking us is a result of not just being in between eclipses, but the juxtaposition of the two energies. Whereas the solar eclipse in Aries inspired us to take a leap and move forward (and it in itself starting a whole new cycle), the lunar eclipse in Scorpio on May 5 is closing out an eclipse cycle in a sign of death and rebirth, echoing similar themes brought into our lives over a year ago, with some slight alterations.
These signs, both ruled by Mars, drive different things within us, and as a lunar eclipse connotes a deeper, darker expression of Scorpio, we are challenged with endings things that have held power and control over us for too long. If you have not willingly released this obsession, behavior, person, situation or belief, this eclipse could provide an ending that could feel quite violent. Our recommendation, if you haven’t read it before, is to start letting go of whatever you’ve been grasping onto. And if you already have, bravo, the relief will set in as the moon opposes the sun and a recognition of a karmic cycle closing washes over you.
With Mercury retrograde, there is a high probability that a miscommunication or a provocative, heartfelt truth being spoken broke the deteriorating strands of a connection, egging our eclipse ending on. Our communication is seeking connection and fairness, with little patience for those around us who are unwilling to meet us halfway. Our hearts are seeking new, more diverse connections, quickly setting our sights away from some long-standing ones.
Now it’s not to say the end of all things. Remember, Scorpio is represented by the phoenix, so it can be reborn anew. This includes facets of our personality and values, a shifting of relationship status, or a complete pivot into a new career–highlighted changes by the solar eclipse in Aries.
Leading into this eclipse, we are being made aware of some of our darkest shadows that have revealed themselves where we have been trying to exert power and control in our lives (or where we fell victim to it), particularly in relationships with others.
We are taking a second look where we may be sidestepping the spotlight giving our power away to others or where we may have dominated, but don’t want to bear the responsibility. Think back to a year ago, when we were moving through the same type of eclipse. Saturn squared the nodes at that time, prompting some restriction, wisdom and discipline needing to be learned for our personal growth. We were still being given an option and the opportunity to learn and work hard on it. This lunar eclipse, we’ll see Pluto take charge this time, making it inescapable and prompting a key event in the metamorphic process on our individual evolution journey.

Aiding Pluto’s influence is Uranus opposing this moon. Meaning this Pluto expression could be triggered by material upset, unexpected changes of plan or an event that fundamentally changes a core value. What holds our devotion is coming into question, particularly the grips that money has on our lives. Alternatively, we may be stuck on having to solve financial or relationship challenges, particularly where we are being too obstinate or traditional in our ways of creating safety and security in our lives.
At this time, we are feeling deep emotions in nearly every part of our body. The eclipse activates a raw and primal energy in the asteroid Lilith, forcing us to deal with our self-expression, confidence and life force inviting us to reconnect to our deepest instincts and redefine certain limits or have the courage to assume our choices and leave. Old traumas will be reactivated so that we can once and for all face them by choosing a path of greater courage and integrity…otherwise we will once again have to endure the consequences of the chaos and control they exert over our lives.
Following paths of creativity and stepping outside of the box offers an easier pathway through this energy. Having flexibility and seeing different perspectives allows us to gain ground as long as we do not let Mercury Retrograde overwhelm us with Imposter Syndrome or feelings that other people have better resources, stronger values and are more secure than ourselves. We’ll spend the next 6 months confronting the fear, shame, and embarrassment we’ve carried with us to help us be more of our unique selves when Pluto goes direct in Aquarius at the end of the year.

Those of you in leadership or running your own business, look to make a bold choice following your revised values. Diversify your finances, if you haven’t already done so, favor safe assets and limit your investment risks as big changes in commodities and the financial and monetary sector are expected (in the most unexpected way). Jupiter will activate the solar eclipse point on May 16, certainly setting in motion misplaced optimism and the birth of new bubbles. Pluto will pass through Capricorn again on June 11, certainly exposing once again the fragility of our banking system and testing the finances of our governments, pushing central banks to change their rate policies once again.
