It is a summer that starts strong like our nostalgia desires – celebratory, bold, and fun – but an energy that peters out sooner than later. Absolutely not the worst, far from it, but not the absolute best either. The beginning fanfare swiftly gives way to pitfalls and reversals which will mark the end of this season.  That said, this summer will be the best season of the year by a long shot (if not the last three years) and that deserves a big ovation!

Devoid of oppositions but rich in squares, the summer solstice chart shows we will neither be prone to project our problems onto others, nor will we have to deal excessively with others’ challenges. We’ll be busy enough with our own, even if the irritations and frustrations that others generate will eventually build up and be hardly bearable by the end of the season.

When Jessica and I were working on this season, two parables came to mind that could sum up this season:

The visit of Pinocchio and his classmates to Pleasure Island

The fable of the grasshopper and the ant in its Lafontaine version

Both morals to these stories are carried with our actions this summer, though we may not see the consequences carried out until the fall.

Most of the planets are concentrated in the first quadrant of the Zodiac, so it will be a matter of experiencing a personality that has evolved (or not) considerably over the past three years, or more radically, of putting into practice a new identity.

Pluto leads the charge. So, the summer will be deep and intense, mysterious and magnetic, not exactly what you had in mind when you started it, but no doubt extremely rich in passions, twists and turns, encounters, dramas, manipulations or crises and ultimately incredibly transformative.

Business is picking up and life has a unique and deliciously intoxicating taste as summer begins

With three personal planets in domicile, and Venus conjunct the North Node, it’s an exceptional period of grace we should be experiencing at the end of June and for most of July. Our bodies will be functioning at almost 100% of their capabilities, whether energetic, sensory or mental. Almost everything will be easy and will invite us to multiply our experiences and to live life to the fullest.

The summer chart speaks of two paths that will lead to the same evolutionary destination. One considerably less difficult and shorter than the other.

We will be rewarded when we are bold (Mars in Aries), true of heart (Venus in Taurus) and clear minded (Mercury in Gemini). Exposing who we really are right now – our new values, thoughts and passions – through tenacious actions will be highly beneficial.

The heavens are really inviting us to refocus on ourselves, to show innocence and courage in order to set out on the path of our dreams and goals, pouring in heart and soul. The invitation of the two May eclipses is clear: to regain a healthier sense of security through freeing ourselves from co-dependencies that no longer serve us.

The earth-dominant astrological chart for the summer indicates that the material, the physical world, its beauties, pleasures and delights could dominate at first. Nevertheless, it’s rather a karmic and testing summer, rich in consequences and concrete results of all kinds that we should expect.

Even if we are all more or less aware of the difficult moments awaiting us this autumn, the desire to evacuate the cold sweats and nightmarish visions of spring will prevail…

Expect a summer with end of the century accents or with hints of the roaring twenties. With a few solo riffs.

Yes, we know that we will soon have to make much greater sacrifices, but in any case, we may not have another opportunity to party and really enjoy it for a long time.

Many of those who have lived through the winter and spring as an ordeal and have taken refuge in victim-like behaviours, preferring to blame and project their problems onto others, will see this brightening as a fantastic opportunity to escape and forget their problems. But will they be able to do so?

We will simply remind them that Pinocchio avoids being turned into a donkey and sold like his classmates after their visit to pleasure island, only to end up in the belly of the whale.

For the majority, a feeling of guilt, shame or rejection will continue to grow, anchored in increasing material, emotional or psychological difficulties, result of an excess of confidence or of a disconcerting naivety. At the beginning of this summer, this difficulty will certainly climax and slowly fade away, having completely disappeared by the end of August. We might not see it in such a positive light, but this smaller evil will probably help us to delay our carelessness and abandonment for a little while.

As our difficulties fade, we may well unleash a much more primitive, instinctual, and direct nature. Much less polite and patient, it will no longer be able to submit to others’ dictates and bear their lack of tact.

This summer has a strong whiff of liberation, but will we really know what we are liberating until the genie is out of the bottle?

It will all depend of course on our intentions and attention.

This summer will not be all roses…we may see more red from the thorns than its petals.

Whether it be frustrations related to our travels (especially by air), accidents linked to reckless behaviours, general lack of respect and tact, spiritual practices that revive our wounds or moralistic or religious speeches that rekindle hatred, there will be no shortage of malevolent opportunities.

Our sense of moderation will therefore become increasingly critical.

Especially during the beginning of August when the energetic climate changes, unexpected events will multiply, and we will be forced to continue without a safety net.

Our advice: think about slowing down if you don’t really want to get caught off guard around the next corner.

The fable of the grasshopper and the ant exposes that neither of them really has more merit than the other.

For us, it’s a matter of knowing how to measure, to seize the opportunities that arise and to stop before it’s too late, at the first warning shots.

But then again, can we, and should we? Only one way to know – listen to your intuition and feelings. Both might not always be fully aligned, but in the pause that you will need to reconcile them will emerge the only acceptable path.

The themes that will arise at the end of this period are likely to be about power, loss, control, evolution, trust, letting go and vulnerability.

Remember that the grasshopper doesn’t really have any options when the end of summer comes, he has been singing all summer and the ant in return for her more than conditional help, says back, “well now dance!”

To tow this somewhat precarious line throughout the summer, we’ve created summer horoscopes based on your signs highlighting where you will see this come up in your life and how you can navigate the waters.
