Eclipses are powerful celestial events that can bring about significant changes and opportunities for growth in our lives. At the heart of these events lies a transformative power, which presents us with the chance to focus on something that unlocks our highest potential. For us and the clients that we work with, eclipses have been known to uproot and surprise us, leading us down a path of purpose that we may have never considered before.
Eclipses occur when the moon passes between the sun and the earth (a solar eclipse) or the earth passes between the sun and the moon (a lunar eclipse), leading to a temporary obscuring of the light from one celestial body.
Astrologically speaking, eclipses can be viewed as portals of transformation that offer a potent energy for release, renewal, and realignment. Their effects can vary based on where they fall in our natal chart and the astrological aspects they make to other planets. Their strength can also differ depending on whether they are partial, total, or penumbral (just passing the Earth’s outer shadow).
Throughout the year, we experience four eclipses on average, but it is possible to see as many as seven in a single year. In 2020, we saw six, and that year was one of the most life-changing years in recent memory. In 2024, we will experience five.
They always occur in a solar and lunar pair and in series along the axis of opposite signs for almost two years, always in the same modality.
Currently, we are at the tail end of the Taurus-Scorpio axis, transitioning to the Aries-Libra axis, which represents a shift from fixed to cardinal. The first eclipse this year will be a Solar eclipse in Aries, marking the beginning of this shift.

Solar eclipses represent a potent time of transformation and new beginnings. They occur during a new moon and are associated with fresh starts, new beginnings, and the planting of seeds for future growth. A solar eclipse can be a time of intense introspection and self-reflection, as we are called to examine our lives and identify areas in need of change or growth. This process can be challenging, as we are forced to confront new situations quite dramatically, but it can also be deeply rewarding, as we gain greater clarity and insight into our own inner workings.
Solar eclipses can also be a time of heightened emotional intensity, as we are more attuned to our own feelings and the feelings of those around us. This can be a time of increased sensitivity and empathy, but it can also be a time of emotional upheaval and turbulence.
The astrology of a solar eclipse invites us to step into the unknown and embrace the potential for growth and transformation. Although this process can be uncomfortable or even painful at times, it can lead to profound personal growth and a deeper sense of connection to ourselves and the world around us.
Like solar eclipses, lunar eclipses also have significant psychological implications. They occur during a full moon and are associated with the culmination or completion of a cycle, rather than new beginnings.
Lunar eclipses represent a time of release and letting go, as we are called to release old patterns, beliefs, or relationships that no longer serve us. This process can be difficult, as we may be resistant to change or fear the unknown, but it can also be liberating and empowering, as we free ourselves from the past and open ourselves up to new possibilities.
The difference between a solar and lunar eclipse is that a solar eclipse is associated with new beginnings and planting seeds for future growth, while a lunar eclipse is associated with release and letting go of old patterns or beliefs.
It’s important to note that not all eclipses are created equal. The effects of an eclipse can vary depending on where it falls in your natal chart and the astrological aspects it makes to your personal planets. The strength of an eclipse can also vary depending on whether it is a partial, total, or penumbral eclipse.
We often take eclipses into account in many of our sessions because of the exciting opportunities they can present in the form of unexpected challenges. You don’t have to be an astrologer to understand some of the energy that will trigger the collective as we move through these transits. These apply equally to our personal lives, to the life of our companies, to the groups in which we participate and to the clientele you maintain or lead as a change agent. A session with us can dive into deeper, more specific details you may be looking for, but the nature of the axes that those eclipses cross can give an overall idea of the pain points arising in the cycles we are starting and closing out.
The effects of an eclipse can last from several months to several years, and it’s best to wait a few days or weeks before making major decisions or taking action in response to an eclipse. This allows time for the energy to settle and for any hidden information to come to light. It’s also helpful to consider other astrological factors such as planetary transits or retrogrades, when deciding on the timing of major decisions or actions.
The house of your birth chart that the eclipse falls in can provide insights into the area of life that may be most affected by the eclipse. For example, if the eclipse falls in your tenth house of career, you may experience changes or growth in your professional life. If it falls in your fifth house of creativity and self-expression, you may experience new opportunities for creative expression or romantic relationships.
Eclipses can amplify or bring to light the energies of other astrological events happening simultaneously. For example, a solar eclipse may coincide with a Mercury retrograde, highlighting themes of communication, technology, and travel. Understanding the interplay between different astrological factors can provide a more complete picture of the energies at play during an eclipse.
Harnessing the energy of an eclipse for personal growth or manifestation can involve a variety of practices, such as meditation, journaling, visualization, or ritual. Some common eclipse rituals include setting intentions, releasing what no longer serves you, or performing a sacred ceremony. It’s important to approach these practices with a spirit of openness and receptivity and to listen to your intuition about what feels most aligned for you.
Ah, the age-old question of what we bring into the world and what we inherit from those who came before us. This is the eternal dance of Taurus and Scorpio, represented respectively by the second and eighth houses, focusing on “I have” and “I share”.
On the one hand, we have the talents and abilities that we have cultivated in ourselves, the skills that we have honed over time through effort and dedication. These are the gifts of Taurus, the sign of the bull, which reminds us that slow and steady progress is the key to success. Our ability to support ourselves through our own talents and hard work is a source of pride and security, a solid foundation upon which we can build our lives.
But on the other hand, there are the resources and talents that we inherit from our families, both genetic and karmic. These are the legacies that we carry with us wherever we go, the gifts and burdens that we have received from those who came before us. This is the realm of Scorpio, the sign of transformation, which reminds us that we must be willing to delve deep into the mysteries of our own psyche in order to understand and heal the wounds of the past.
Navigating the dance between Taurus and Scorpio has been and still is a delicate balancing act, but it is one that is essential if we are to live our best lives. We must honor the gifts and talents that we have cultivated within ourselves, while also acknowledging and honoring the gifts and challenges that we have inherited from our families. By doing so, we can create a life that is both grounded and expansive, secure and adventurous, rich in both material and spiritual abundance.
So, take a moment to reflect on your own talents and abilities, and the ways in which you support yourself as we close out this cycle this year. Honor the legacies that you carry with you, the resources and talents that you have inherited from your family and your ancestos. By doing so, you can create a life that is truly abundant, both materially and spiritually.
The Aries-Libra axis illuminates the eternal question of “Who am I?” At its core, it is a question of balance and how we find equilibrium between ourselves and others.
Aries, represented by the 1st house, is all about the self. It is the sign of initiation, drive, desire and assertion. When we focus on the Aries side of the axis, we ask ourselves, “What do I need? What are my ambitions? What are my boundaries?” We tap into our personal power and embrace our individuality.
On the other hand, Libra, represented by the 7th house, is all about the other. It is the sign of partnership, diplomacy, and harmony. When we focus on the Libra side of the axis, we ask ourselves, “How can I include others in my scheme? How can I balance my needs with theirs? How can we collaborate and find mutual benefit?” We seek to create harmonious relationships and find common ground.
We can see on a collective level that people are moving from seeking stability and security from deeply wounded space or precarious situations into integrating the gifts, talents or priorities they uncovered and how that changes who they fundamentally are and how they express that to others. We expect the new values everyone is adopting to shift the dynamic of relationships of their lives while still having a very strong drive to express a newly cultivated personal power.
Ultimately, the Aries-Libra axis will teach us that we are both unique individuals free to express our will and social beings. By finding balance between ourselves and others, we can cultivate healthy, fulfilling relationships and lead a meaningful life.
Eclipses can have a powerful impact on individuals, particularly if they fall near sensitive points in the individual’s astrological chart. Depending on the house that the eclipse falls in, an individual may experience significant changes or challenges in a particular area of their life. For example, an eclipse in the seventh house of relationships could bring about significant changes or challenges in an individual’s romantic partnerships, while an eclipse in the tenth house of career could indicate a time of career growth or upheaval.
The impact of eclipses on the collective consciousness often coincides with major global events or shifts in cultural trends. For example, the solar eclipse that occurred in August 2017, and activated the Aquarius-Leo axis up to 2019, was widely seen as a powerful symbol of change and transformation, coinciding with major social and political movements around the world (the Brexit negotiations, the Rohingya crisis, Donald Trump triggering trade wars, the French Yellow vest uprising, and humanitarian crisis throughout the world.) Eclipses can also bring to light collective shadows or areas of unconsciousness, leading to greater awareness and growth for the collective as a whole.
They can have a significant impact on leaders, particularly if the eclipse falls near sensitive points in their astrological chart, like the ruler of the chart (planet attributed to Ascendant sign), 10th House ruler, planets in the 10th House and the North Node. Leaders may experience major changes or challenges in their personal lives or careers during eclipse seasons and may be called upon to make tough decisions or navigate complex situations. Understanding the astrology of eclipses can help leaders navigate these powerful energies with greater awareness and insight for the group they are leading.
Eclipses can also impact businesses, particularly if the eclipse falls in a sensitive area of the business’s astrological chart. For example, an eclipse in the second house of finances could bring about changes or challenges in the business’s financial situation, while an eclipse in the tenth house of career could indicate a time of growth or upheaval in the business’s leadership or organizational structure. Business owners who are aware of the astrology of eclipses can use this knowledge to make informed decisions and navigate periods of change and transformation with greater ease.
