Evolving In The Sign Of...
The new moon in Leo usually comes in the middle of summer in the northern hemisphere, inviting us to revel in the sunny nectar of life and its many little pleasures and entertainments, encouraging us to truly live our passions, dropping our usual limitations to express ourselves as creatively as possible and rekindling with this world, and love, in a true childlike manner.
Leo is the sign of the Sun, our conscious ego, what we consciously aim at.
The Sun in our natal chart points to where our greatest destiny resides in essence.
Sign of Fire, it speaks to our intuitive nature, our creative force, our passion center, our purposeful potential. It also speaks of the empowering authority figures in our lives.
We naturally locate that center in our heart that Leo rules.
We will very often find Leo rule the houses in our charts where we can express ourselves and state our uniqueness unimpeded by any need for compromise, where we can permeate our feelings, desires, ideas and activities with our own essence: art, romance, leisure, pleasures, but also children by extension.
Through that unique expression of our unrestricted self, we aim at discovering lost fragments of who we really are. When we express ourselves freely, play mindlessly or create passionately, we bring forth to our consciousness parts of ourselves we only suspected before. The recognition by others is second to the recognition of self by oneself. Leo is first and foremost about SELF-DISCOVERY and can be seen for this reason as self-centered and easily drifting when too (surprisingly) insecure into self-importance, pride, superiority and arrogance, its darker sides.
A Leo will see drama as an opportunity to shine, unleash one’s creative power and live fully: the liberating fight at the end of the hero’s journey when the goal of his quest can eventually be reached and the princess liberated, the missing pieces of its fragmented soul finally retrieved. Life is a play, not a war. Leo needs a stage, a pedestal or a throne much more than a battleground. And nothing will paralyze him more than being laughed at or ignored.
But Leos intuitively know that it is all about perceptions and nobody bluffs or acts as well as they do.
In order to do this, the Leo will need to face his or her fears and act with courage (with heart, cœur in French). And this process of facing one’s fears is first and foremost an ego trip as the Sun, Leo’s ruler, reminds us.
We very much manufacture our own fears and give them the power to paralyze us, they become handy excuses to cement the status quo but true Leos know better…
WHATEVER YOUR EXCUSES, THE UNIVERSE NEEDS YOU BE YOU WITHOUT TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE EXTERNAL GAZE.
Being present with your experiences, whether dinner with friends or walk outside, is important in defining your own fulfillment in life’s endeavors. It is not the time to take a picture and post for validation and likes. Embrace your own creative power and connect with what makes you feel rewarded, powerful and supported for yourself over the next few months. This month is the perfect opportunity to identify how and where we play small, diminishing our light in an attempt to be more integrated. Ironically the more we diminish our light the more we attract others’ criticisms. This can gradually disintegrate our heart, like a sun collapsing and creating a black hole – felt as a crisis in confidence.
Leo summons us to step into our sacred, sovereign heart to claim our inner mantle of kingship / queendom. We do this by daring to do whatever it takes to create the vision we are divinely gifted for our lives, even when it asks us to grow beyond our fears. Once this is done, we will need to find the resources and resolve to amplify our inner light step-by-step, resist our relationships’ reactions to our change and become a shining example for others to do the same.
Most of us will likely interact with others in an increasingly electric and intense energetic environment where egos might very often clash over the next months.
Having to decide – either asserting what we believe in as calmly as possible or adjusting for the greater good of all – will be our hero’s path. We can no longer hide our true colors or postpone our fights.
Are we going to react, act entitled, confident of our rights, self-righteously and superior or will we respond to the situation with humility and full awareness, putting our best self forward, our most generous heart?
This new moon invites us to drop fear for courage and love, superiority and violence for humility and generosity, egoism for heroism.
Leo is also about kingship, LEADERSHIP, dignity, nobility, loyalty, magnanimity, and integrity.
Trine Jupiter, the new moon in Leo gives us a burst of charismatic charm and a boost into leadership that perhaps externally validates our emotions. However, shortly thereafter, Jupiter stations making this external endorsement ring hollow as we begin a deeper journey of self-acceptance of our own emotions and desires that will culminate September 26.
Respect, self-effacement, empathy, pragmatism, and fortitude are all currently preferred to self-importance, undue optimism and inconsiderate behaviors. Relinquishing attachments, especially to any outcome, calm and selfless actions will all be required by the dormant leader in you.
Finally, this Leo New Moon hints at our UNIQUE, AUTONOMOUS CREATIVE POWER.
If the Cancer new moon was focusing on the night of our earlier conditioning and emotional maturation ruled by the Moon, the new Moon in Leo, ruled by the Sun reminds us of the cyclical nature of life where every new day holds a new creative potential and an opportunity for us all to try our best again, let go of our perceived failures and suffering during the night and start again afresh in the morning daylight.
Remembering that all of this is temporary and will soon be over will bring us the required stamina to stand up again for a new day.
Remembering that the universe will always send our way a flower, a bird song, a sun ray, a beautiful sunset, a smile or two for us to enjoy and fill ourselves with grace and beauty will help us going through each day.
