Moon-light
On Friday, April 1st at 6:24am GMT, the first new moon of the astrological new year happens in Aries conjunct Chiron and square Lilith.
Aries is a Cardinal Fire Sign ruled by Mars.
Known as the initiator, Aries are creators, passionate, enthusiastic, youthful, innocent, brave and impulsive. They can also be reckless, lack follow through and burn a bridge faster than you can blink.
The shift into Aries season a week ago probably moved the energy quite a bit for many, as we finally had some fire added into the transitory mix. With this new moon, we are set ablaze, as Mercury joined in on the fun earlier in the week and the new moon is conjunct Chiron. You may not want to address a core wound of self, but it will rear its head in an impulsive way if there have been no strides to undertake it elsewhere.
This can appear as physical and emotional pain bursting to the surface. But also, shame and guilt could arise as you recognize how you’ve wounded others in the past.
The combination of Mars, Saturn, Juno, and Venus in Aquarius is a literal bellow that fans the fire into a frenzy, feeding it rather erratically and haphazardly with innovative ideas about our actions, responsibilities, partnerships, and loves. It won’t be pretty, but it will be healing and momentum generating.
Aries’ ruler, Mars, is in Aquarius focusing its passion on ideals and hopes in a strategic way. It can dissociate itself from emotions and self-sacrifice for a higher vision benefiting all. The shadow side of this can be taking a god-like stand, thinking it knows what’s best for all involved, and forcing actions for a calculated outcome, others input be damned.
This is further underlined by the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction taking place in Pisces, spurring on larger dreams for ourselves, dissolving of boundaries, seeking spiritual insight/bliss and a feeling of optimism that will bolster the Aries energy to act. Tension arises here as both planets square Lilith, creating pressure around personal freedom against status quo, tendencies to self-sabotage and misdirect rage, particularly around seeking deeper connections and rejecting it for fear of it controlling you.
What’s at stake is two-fold. This is very much a time of putting your own oxygen masks on first before assisting others. What dreams do you have that you’ve put off in the name of outside pressure to fit in? It’s a time to crystallize your hopes, make an action plan and even take that first step. New beginnings for yourself are being asked as you overcome a deep wound that has held you back. It’s following your heart, without fear of repercussions or being exiled, because ultimately, it will benefit all. Don’t worry about the people who can’t see your vision and try to fit you into a box.
Additionally, there is a healing of self for the benefit of the collective. We’ve already seen this energy starting to build over the past couple of weeks with the current war, Judge Jackson confirmation hearings and the Oscars. The actions of an individual (new moon) are really a revelation of larger structures (semisquare Saturn) at play. These confrontations that erupt over the next two weeks aren’t just about our own personal healing, but also exposing the ways which we contribute to hurtful structures in society that aren’t helping the majority at large and are, in fact, unfair and inequitable.
Both Aries and Aquarius are signs that seek authenticity. Both are quick to step in it to get to the truth, though one takes more calculated risk. There is an impetuousness to these moments that are nearly karmic to move the needle forward and springboard our life towards some forward movement.
We most likely will be put in a position of asking these 3 emotional intelligence questions:
Instinctively, we’ll most likely say yes to all the questions above but will learn our lessons through each instance with the repercussions. Listen and learn when you are in these situations.
Take stock that what you see in the news and in your life this upcoming week isn’t really about your opinion or judgments on what is happening at face value. It’s digging deeper to look at the elements that contributed to the event, recognizing where you are self-sabotaging and where you are playing perpetrator.
This new moon is the opportunity to manifest a new hero’s journey, kick off a new project, start again from scratch, invite a brand new you.
The North Node in Taurus is activated as we make shifts to find stability in the new normal and learn to make adjustments to what makes sense. Mars joins Saturn in an uncomfortable square to North Node – pressures on us to conform and doing what we have to do and not what we want to do (which could be result of latest variant) or us taking responsibility for some explosive Aries fueled statements that we’d normally run from. It can make us feel angry and revengeful, especially anywhere we see it chafing our personal freedom.
Saturn will be squaring the north node for months so you might want to save a little for later and avoid believing that you can walk away from your responsibilities as soon as good news will get the wind to blow your way.
However, acknowledging this energy and harnessing it towards our new dreams and goals can power our actions with rocket fuel. Putting your head down towards a creative endeavor or a physically demanding project (say starting a garden or spring cleaning) transmutes this energy away from a potentially violent outburst.
Tapping into the Neptune sextile North Node encourages creative and artistic expression. Leveled up with Jupiter, there is an opportunity to step into leadership that can be powerful enough to influence the behaviors of a community.
The activities of the world will escalate around us through the month of April. The war will get more ferocious, cyber-attacks and potential biological warfare that can heighten our fear state. But from a collective standpoint, these situations are being presented to us to provoke a deeper thought process of the shadow narrative we’ve been participants in. It’s vital to reinvest in ourselves in efforts to overcome the hurt we perpetuate outwardly. The opportunity to fall into fear and worry is high, but true growth will be an investment in self and the acknowledgment of our interdependence to reimagine our interactions.
