Moon-light
In this section, I spend more time diving into the cosmic tonality of this RARE moon and what it might manifest on your way across the next two to four weeks.
On March 18th at 7:18 GMT the Full Moon in Virgo will be trining Pluto, squaring Lilith and opposing Neptune.
Virgo is an Earth Mutable sign ruled by Mercury.
Mostly concerned by material issues, the sign seeks to integrate the different elements of our personality: mission, identity, needs, gifts, skills, emotional nature, and creative talents into a coherent operational unit able to maintain itself and be of service to the greater collective.
Mercury is currently orbiting in Pisces though, not exactly the best placement for our rational mind to work wonders as it struggles to make logical sense of the reality and can be subject to flight of fantasy or pessimism. To truly tap into the potential of this new moon we want to remember to look beyond the facts and listen to our senses, feelings, and intuition for greater guidance. Possibly not the best time to draw conclusions on hard facts, but a better one for creative tasks, longer term plan development or purposeful projects.
We are in the mutable square of information, knowledge, and wisdom.
What is at stake is our greater understanding of the situation and how we use this information to manage the reality and requirements of our lives. Behind the search for knowledge sits a greater need for mankind to control his environment. This is especially strong amongst Gemini, the other Mercurian sign, but with Virgo we deal with the feminine version and the need for the external world to adjust and integrate the requirements of our inner life.
The stakes of this challenge are clear:
Either we manage to rein in our lives to ensure that most of our needs are being fulfilled, our potential harnessed and we can be optimally functional.
Or we become dysfunctional entities, either mentally or physically sick.
Balance is not just required in between all the activities of our lives, but more importantly between our inner and outer lives, between our activities and everything we harbor within.
With Virgo, this full moon consequently invites us to shine a light and more carefully review our Routine, how we allocate our time, source and distribute our energy; our Health, how we maintain ourselves not just physically but emotionally and spiritually too; our Work, our capacity to optimally serve the collective, be a productive part of the society we live in and be rewarded for it.
When the moon comes to fruition in this sign, this is usually the opportunity for us to have a look at the last six months and ask ourselves:
Have I been good at implementing the routine I needed to support my everyday life?
How have I physically cared for my body (diet, fitness, time in nature)?
How have I done when it comes to addressing those last nasty habits, I wanted to get rid of?
How have I been of service to others? What is preventing me to do more/better?
How have I worked on defining a healthier lifestyle more respectful and integrative of all my (and my close ones’) needs?
Whatever the answer to those questions and the remorse attached to those answers, this full moon is an opportunity to push the reset button, forgive yourself and look into the events that occurred over the last six months, what derailed your intentions, and invite you to bring the necessary adjustments so that you can resume more aligned with your soul journey.
Pisces is limitless and, in its excesses, brings chaos, volatility, panic, victimhood and all the feelings associated with those from extreme fear to absolute compassion. We can clearly relate to all of those manifestations today.
After the fear of disease, we are now giving in to the fear of war and the fear of economic collapse.
As long as this feeling of fear dominates, we are prone to confusion, manipulation and being more easily controlled.
Why?
Pisces in its lower expression can push us to project our anxiety on others, either inviting for more authority control or driving us to numb in drugs or addictions, shut down and escape.
Virgo brings the opposite polarity of limit and order, a colder more rational and pragmatic look at things.
The way Virgo brings order is through routines, the drawing of lines within our lives around what is important so that we can be operational and serve the collective. Virgo helps us to prioritize.
Virgo as we have seen is driven by common sense logic, it aspires to perfection and optimal integration, labels, divides, categorizes and optimizes, brings organization, spots weaknesses, criticizes and fixes.
With a full moon in Virgo, we will seek to forgive ourselves for the damage done by our inner critic, the self-sabotage that triggers unconscious fears and anxiety, the obsessive thoughts that may have driven us into a state of physical imbalance.
We also acknowledge the progress we have made on the path to a healthier and more balanced lifestyle, forgiving ourselves for the temporary failures or interruptions.
This full moon is however extremely emotional, boosting our sensitivity to record high levels and activating our imbalances. At the heart of it stands Lilith.
Lilith is Adam’s first wife. Refusing to be subservient she decided to leave him and was later ostracized by the patriarchy, turned into the first baby killing witch of our common mythology.
Lilith points to the parts of us we feel ashamed of, the unfulfilled wishes, lacks and areas of our lives which need to be more carefully addressed. Where we have been pointed, ridiculed, deeply misunderstood. Those are very sensitive areas that will always trigger instinctive reactions and reactive primal emotions, either towards others or ourselves.
When activated, there can be a binging and purging cycle involved.
Black moon Lilith sits between Mars and Jupiter, in between:
Lilith also represents the masculine shame and evil, she’s the result of the vindictive patriarchy unable to integrate the feminine, the emotional, creative and intuitive.
Around this full moon we clearly see a clash of two worlds coming to a climax.
One incredibly inclusive and sensitive–a modern man who has fully integrated his feminine and cannot help but feeling sad and compassionate for the Russian soldiers his nation has to kill to defend their freedom.
Another one who seeks division, points to unbridgeable differences, labels all Ukrainians refusing to be subservient indiscriminately of Nazi, appears incredibly cold and calculating, devoid of emotions, unable to accept that Ukraine could be a free country, free of its choices and will simply stop at nothing to achieve his goals.
Somehow, those two versions of past and future mankind manifest all around within and without.
Lilith is currently in Gemini, with this full moon, all three planetary bodies are aligned on the Mutable cross of information, knowledge and wisdom.
We clearly struggle to deal with the information we receive and have difficulties understanding what is true, what is not. We struggle to be understood by others. We feel isolated and rejected for what we say or what we do not say. We feel ashamed of our lies, of our silences. Our words and messages can be used against us. Words and information hurt. We don’t have a voice. We are being lied to regardless.
Lilith has just finished a very supportive sextile with Eris, that has seen a lot of the repressed feminine and shameful masculine being exposed.
You can find below a few headlines testifying of its positive influence when harmoniously impacted.
From a very famous Indian actress breaking the silence on her rape and shaking the whole nation, to those women investigating feminicides across the world as interviewed by the BBC, through the beheading of woman by a high society member that revolted Pakistan, or the march of thousands of women in San Salvador for their rights.
Even if all of those events come to bring justice to issues experienced by women, Lilith does not particularly pertain to the feminist cause and apply just as much to men.
Lilith and Eris’ imprint can also be found in the two reports that have been recently published on the advance of climate change by the GIEC and deforestation in the Amazon more recently, both screaming for universal imbalances and shameful behaviors where the nurturing feminine is baffled and urgently needs to be addressed.
Those events are just reflective of the lack of balance within our psyche we all need to address if we want to successfully cope with the challenges of our time.
This harmonious aspect is however finished, and we enter a rather long square that will last up to June. This aspect is likely to bring both visions of the nightmare the masculine evil can unleash as well as the rage we will no longer be able to contain when experiencing the rape of our feminine, the denial of our emotions, the challenge of our values, the affront of cold reason over our core beliefs.
This is likely to show up at work, where frustrations or difficulties to cope might bring arguments, but also at home where the sum of your imbalances may have to be dealt with emotionally.
If you struggle to harness this energy constructively then consider a spring clean, rearranging your home, sorting out your papers, closet, or garage, preparing your garden for the seeding of the next new moon.
Having to cope with this level of confusion, this full moon begs further questions though, from the more individual ones to the more collective:
Almost exactly two years ago, our routines were substantially overhauled over the same full moon. Since then, our everyday life has been incredibly disrupted and our hopes for a return to normalcy aborted several times. The virus is still on the run and apparently regaining in strength. We are still due one last mutation at the end of this summer.
Of course, we adjusted, but at what cost?
Today is the time to have deep look at where the imbalances are the strongest and have absolutely no shame in voicing it to those around who can help you.
Here we deal with two potential offenders: ourselves and our governments.
We certainly adapted our routines but are also desperately trying to stick to a semblance of normalcy by forcefully giving in to old habits that have slowly lost their sense and value today.
We become more forceful in trying to defend the remnants of a distant past, falling into the Virgo traps of discrimination, fault finding, (self) criticism, obsessiveness.
Why are we doing this?
Because they still carry the trace of the old order with it, and we secretly hope that those habits will bring us the reassurance or comfort we so strive for. So, we still buy this 10-dollar coffee at Starbuck even though we are getting shorter on money, go back the office even though productivity has never been so high when we worked from home, or order on Amazon even though we know that this company exploit precarity at scale. Those habits are no longer aligned with our new set of values, but we mindfully stick to them.
But behind the masks of normalcy, our mental health is rapidly degrading.
Isolation and social distancing have also generated enormous emotional and psychological damages. The last wave of the pandemic has pushed many of us to our physical or mental limits. Psychoses, depressions, breakdowns, burn out have only multiplied. We can no longer pretend that life is normal. We seriously need to readjust, stop faking it, learn a new way of being, acknowledge all of our lacks and deficiencies and put together the program, the routine, the support system we need to ensure we can come back to being functional social beings.
Of course, there might be a lack of ease around this, the fear of being rejected by others. This is one of the aspects of this Lilith square. There might be an element of shame associated to voicing the fact that you need to take care of yourself, but there is no other real viable option at the moment. We must be show vulnerability in order to access growth now.
On the other hand, we also have governments that have completely infantilized us from day one. Going as far as mandating the time and distance I could walk my dog around for, explaining to me how to wear a mask and compensating for my loss in revenues… directly interfering and taking over all of our Virgo features of Routine, Health and Work.
The pandemic is temporarily “over”, but we now have a new enemy requiring more sacrifices. The question that many ask themselves is how long will those core liberties and sovereignties be baffled again?
One could also argue that this conflict is also a godsend for Western states as the unstoppable inflationary trend they have given birth to, result of their excessive interventions in our lives during the pandemic, have now found a new culprit in the face of Putin.
With this full moon we have an opportunity to reclaim full sovereignty on our lives, or at least understand the sacred nature of maintaining control over how we organize our days and weeks so that we can continue to simply be social beings.
As you do so, you might want to ask yourself the following:
Today we witness a democracy being slaughtered by an authoritarian regime. Interventions in Taliban ruled Afghanistan and nuclear threat Iraq were justified but this one happens to be on the wrong side of a line. The same goes for the Amazon.
There is also very little doubt that our economic models have been seriously derailed and that our purchasing power will now dwindle at an accelerated pace, but we’ll pretend that adjusting salaries is the drop that will make the whole system collapse so let’s try anything but that?
Today, Europe is being given the heart breaking and mindboggling task of integrating potentially up to 6 million refugees at once. The security and economic impacts that this will raise petty fights all around the zone, and this despite the mind-blowing efforts realized so far by Poland.
Clearly those lines and priorities are outworn and now cruelly fail to reflect the wishes and hopes of a new consciousness birthed during the repeated lockdowns.
Blaming the others (or self) for not doing it right is likely to blow out of proportion, but what will it really help with?
The time has now come to either open up our boundaries and design new structures integrative to all, not just the closest ones or the privileged ones, or to fall once again into the many traps of isolationism or ego-centric populism which will no doubt draw further shameful lines across the history of mankind.
Which bring us back to our sun in Pisces…
This might be the greater question really being asked by this full moon. For as Russian deserters reminded us, you are not going to be the best soldier if you do not believe in the fight you are being asked to participate to.
One built on division or unity? Competition or collaboration? Integration or discrimination?
The disconnect between what we want and what we get becomes hardly bearable during this full moon and the resulting rage will simmer.
The current inherited model defines our relationships as power struggles. We’ve been burdened with the ideals that individualism is betterment and most structures have been built to strengthen this façade. But as we get a better view behind the guise, what is holding us to these habits and societal standards aimed at getting the better of another and to reach a fake goal?
The opportunity of this full moon is to rebuke these strongholds in order to find balance in actions that align with our hearts and develop through collaboration. It’s in emphasizing the growth of an idea with others’ input and expertise to build a better community, society, world. This isn’t all roses and sunshine. The rebellion exists in interdependence and acknowledgement that we are stronger together.
The lines drawn are a division of control of all of us and do not strengthen any of us. We are increasingly gaining awareness on the fact that they are exploiting us and our resources and not protecting us.
This is a big ask, as it requires a deep trust of self. An acknowledgment that there will be missteps by all as we step out of our routine but keeping an open and graceful mind for everyone to navigate together, side stepping cancel culture. It’s re-shaping this mindset that has broken us.
It’s defiantly changing the end goals of money and power to stability and nurturing for all. It requires an intentionality from us that the world today does not support and actively tries to remove. The easiest way to access this is through creation, and the alignment of this full moon and the weeks ahead are asking us to dream big and share our visions in order to create something new in the world.
Think bigger than this but imbue the spirit. [latest Apple ad]
Rather than bursting out, even though that might be hard for some, realign your life, draw plans for the future and connect with other likeminded people.
In order for those things to move forward, they have to be shared. We cannot go at it alone. It’s speaking your truth and being vulnerable and courageous enough to create space for the like-minded as well as the combatants. No one gets it right on the first try. The beginner and the expert have unique perspectives to forge a new path.
Three days later, the spring equinox will get the change you dream in motion as the Sun enters Aries. Experimenting new models of collaboration will be critical to our individual and collective success.
But before that, we will need to deal with and process the heavier energies and emotions we have navigated all along the winter, integrate the deep shadow work we have gone through, defend the new boundaries we realized were critical to our physical, emotional and mental health and let go of the limitations and structures that are no longer serving us.
This will require:
The Spring will bring a brand-new fiery energy to the world. We may currently struggle to imagine it, but everything will rapidly shift for the better and come June we might struggle to believe what we went through. However, when fall comes, our success will depend on the conclusions, choices and behaviors we decided to adopt now and will have to remember again then when the New Moon in Virgo comes.
To aligning your life with your authentic self,
To preparing a better world at peace,
In Compassion,
G & J
